Top 20 start-ups to work for in Australia in 2024

What do an insur-tech, a fake meat start-up and a quantum computing company have in common? They’re all on this year’s top 20 start-ups to work for list, according to LinkedIn. There are a few familiar faces gracing LinkedIn’s annual Top 20 Start-ups to Work For list for 2024. Repeat stars include cell-based meat start-up, Vow, insur-tech Honey Insurance and freight logistics company Ofload.
But then again, more than half of the top start-ups featured on the list are new entrants, including telehealth start-up Eucalyptus, Australian-German quantum computing firm, Quantum Brilliance and what hopes to be a ‘Shopify for banks’, Constantinople.
Three of the top five start-ups on the list represent the tech industry, and there are a few deep tech stars (like Quantum Brilliance), but the list is dominated by financial services start-ups like Pay.com.au, Zeller and ORDE Financial. Interestingly, two death-tech start-ups made the list, Safewill and Bare.
“In 2024, we are seeing Australians seek out companies that invest in their professional growth,” LinkedIn’s career expert, Cayla Dengate, says.
“With AI rapidly changing the workplace landscape, Aussies are looking for employers who can help them prepare for the future world of work and enhance their skills and capabilities. LinkedIn research also shows that one in two people considering new roles this year are seeking higher wages.
“A further 33% of Aussies are motivated by the desire for better work-life balance, with many seeking a mix of environments that offer both in-person collaboration and opportunities for focused, isolated thinking to excel.”
